Hello... just posting my point of view on how large maps should be in the next sim..BoB or what ever the name you give it. If we got to fight over the English chanel we should have enough land fields each sides of it to have few bases.

I think the map should be AT LEAST THIS LARGE:

That's my opinion and i think that be a minimum of scale. It would finally give a sence to the word FLIGHT.

I couldn't agree with your more. This game is so great, I look forward to playing it whenever I have time. But, the map size is a serious drawback that plagues IL2 and FB. I understand that they did this to increase the quality of graphics within the given map dimensions, but there really need to be bigger maps.

I would love to see a mission in BoB where you take off from England in a B-17 and fly for a few hours to bomb Berlin or any other german occupied town into submission. Now THAT would be great.

I remember in CFS2 (I know, I know, it's sad I played it) when me and my squad would just island hop forever...and it was so much fun.

Just my 2 cents

Hehe.. i also played CFS2... I did a long trip with some of my squad members. We used the corsair for our flights that started from:

Lae to Gasmata (Landed) - 201 miles
Gasmata to Kavieng (landed) - 223 miles
Kavieng to Eten (landed) - 598 miles (2:05 hours)
Eten to Ponape (landed) - 374 miles (1:35 hours)
Ponape to Enjebi (landed) - 372 miles ( 1:33 hours)
Enjebi to Wake (Landed) - 522 miles (1:55 hours)

We were suposed to fly from Wake to Midway, but the flight kept being reported. So we canceled it. But we would have been forced to fly the B25 for it's range.. the corsair had not enough fuel to make it there. It would have been a 4 hours flight. Imagine doing this in FB /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I did these flights with my squad members but WUAF_Gen_Bull (formelly known as QC) flown every of them with me.

Now.. that's what i call a flight. We used to test our newest members with long flights (maybe 1 hour flights max.. for their headding test)

If they flew 1 degree off the good headding during an hour.. impossible to find the island and land. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Is FB givving us this type of challenge.. not at all. But i'd be very glad to see this feature in BoB.

Hehe, me and my squad would have similar tests. Ahh...the good ol' days....I miss them.

Anyways, I think far too much is focus upon dogfighting in this game rather than flying. I am a real life pilot, and obviously do it just for the thrill of flying (could never see myself strapping .50's to my C172 and dogfighting lol). I then take a flight sim like IL2 and keep flying to have fun...dogfighting as well as just flying. The thrill of aviation isn't present in pc simulations because it's just that- a simulation. But I'd certainly like to see bigger maps for those of us who like long flights, where 100% fuel can actually be used.....

There was another thing I was thinking about-many people may say that if the map is so big, there will be no action between you and the enemy. Well, in this case, Oleg could make is so the host could choose bases in which you HAVE to spawn from, preferably close together. BUT, you can still fly the whole length of the map if you wish.

I also would Love 2 hour flights to target, but only if we could have a save game facility so that when I get shot on the way, I dont have to fly the same 2 hours again, so that when I miss the target, etc, so that when I crash on landing etc.

I would like a save game facility anyway for practicing my 109 landings.

Large-scale maps would bring a new level of gameplay, and we'd all like to see that.

Also, would it be too much to ask for small canyon-riddled maps for air-racing?

Better still: a map editor/compiler.

rgr.. a Map Editor would be awsome.

Dunno why people can model planes but can't model a map !?

Too bad cuz a lot of great talents are lost out there because of this. Imagine a web site just like IL-2Skins.. but IL-2maps instead..

No.. i don't think so.. i think it would be challenging. And what if we fly something that has more range than a 109E /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Wouldn't it be great to fly for a long trip, with your squad, in formation. Making recon and more. I think that we should be able to fly the whole range of every aircrafts. If not.. why putting drop tanks in 10 minutes square maps ??

isnt it suposed to be 'USED' or it's just for the look. I think the drop tanks shoud give us more range instead of a look.

BoB, a complete sim by Warriorbear.

Programing:
1. Make sure the game engine can handel all aspects of flight including carrier take offs and landings.

2. Dynamic weather or should I say random weather changes since the BoB fight were usually in grey skies.(If you read the historical weather forcasts)

3. Complete western eastern med european theater map incuding all of WWII europe. This is a most to start this big for expantion purposes (1C MONEY MAKING IDEA).

IMO if the BoB is a complete SIM with a complete engine for every aspect of the war with a complete Map. 1C could expand each year with the progresssion of the war after the BoB. I for one would buy each new expantion to that war:

1. BoB
2. Med. and the first Carrier opperation.
3. Normandy Invasion
4. Invasion Italy
5. Pacific and carrier operations
6. Re-vist Eastern Front

A complete five year expantion of the BoB if one thinks of development and marketing. Everyone here on this forum and all over world would go for this thought. As CPUs get faster the Expantion could be more envoled mabe adding more detail.

Overall dont make just one corner of the war map this will lock you into a non expanding SIM IMO.

Heck you could charge the same price for each years expantion and I bet the fellas here would jump on that fast movin train. I think for myself I'm tired of the incomplete SIM.

IF YOU MAKE IT RIGHT THEY WELL ALL COME!

I would hope there will be maps to cover all the BoB areas where actual fights took place....The ill-fated air attack from Norway included.
