Dear all,
Is it possible to whip up a co-op multiplayer from a quick mission builder scenario? I had in mind getting my favourite
Quickie, a simple IL2 (me) strafing German armor and basically enable my friend to sit in the gunner's seat. Maybe get a 109 to keep him interested? I'm totally ignorant where the full mission builder is concerned, so if anyone can suggest some foolproof (me) way of pulling this off I'd be grateful.
Cheers!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Not yet, I'm afraid, but UberDemon is working on something quite similar but far more powerful /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

It is possible to turn a Quick Mission scenario into a COOP Mission, without using the FMB.

You must however be confident to edit, rename, and move, small text files in Windows.

Here is the method:

1. Open FB and go into the Quick mission builder, and set up the mission as you want it.

2. Hit 'FLY'.

3. As soon as the game has loaded and you are in the air, hit 'escape'.

4. Hit 'QuitMission'

5. Hit 'SaveTrack' - give the track a name you can remember, lets call it COOPTEST.

6.When the track is saved, hit 'Done' then close Forgotten Battles.

7. Back in Windows, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder called 'RECORDS' in the main IL-2 FB folder.

8. Find the trackfile you just saved, it is in this folder called 'cooptest.trk'

9. Open this text file by double clicking on it.

10. You must edit the file as follows:

The first section of the trackfile looks like this:

[MAIN]
MAP Smolensk/load.ini
TIME 09.00
CloudType 2
CloudHeight 1000.0
player r0100
army 1
playerNum 0

You must remove the line that says 'player r0100' (or whatever number you get in your mission).

11. Another edit in the same file, scroll down in the trackfile until you see the section that begins like this:

[$$$record]
100
14679551
500.0
500.0
1000.0

There will be more lines of numbers in this section than I have shown here.

You must delete the line [$$$record] and all the other lines after it until the end of the file.

12. Save the file from the file menu or with Crtl-S, and then close it.

13. In windows explorer you now rename the file you were working on. You only need to change the file extension to".mis". You may find it called "cooptest.trk.txt", remove both extensions and make sure the file is called "cooptest.mis".

14. Now you must move the file with copy/paste, to a folder where the Coop-missions are stored. Move your file to the folder Missions\Net\coop\1.

15. Your finished - when you go back into FB you will find the new coop mission available in Multiplay in coop folder 1.

And thats all - it looks a lot more complicated than it is, but it saves any work in the FMB!

Enjoy!

Someone messing around in the .trk files trying to work out how to do cutscene editing noticed that the first part of the .trk file is the mission file for the mission that was recorded. From there it's easy.
