I am playing on verteran, and i CANNOT take that final room down. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I cannot find a way to gas it, flash it, smoke it, and every time I blow the door it just results in an execution -- these people have trigger fingers.

any suggestions??

I followed the default plan, with two simultaneous explosive breaches on a go-code. If you are having problems approaching the door try using members with high stealth status and light armor. Recon specialist are good (and they have higher observation ratings than assault guys).
and/or leave one go code a little ways away from the door until both teams are at them, then give it so that they arrive at the door at the same time (with another go-code for the final explosion). The reason being that if the tangos inside hear you while setting charges, you still might have a chance, but not if both team arrive at the door out of sync.

ok, i will try this.

I almost broke my comptuer this afternoon because of that damn room. I have executed the hostages by accident 3 times... and tonight, after going through everything perfect -- no deaths everyone shooting above 70%, they executed the hostages -- i was sooo f'ing pissed...

anyways, just had to let the frustration out

also, keep the same plan as what HQ gives you, but what i did was also put a sniper in the game
when i cleared out the bottom level of that last building, i took my sniper all the way backl to the start, into the room where the 1st hostage is and went outside onto some stairs near the big open area )that big open area with cars where one of ur teams are supposed to be sniping until go code charlie). If you peak ull see a sniper hiding behind some crates on the top level, take him out. You should also be able to see the window of that last room where the final hostages are being kept. From your position the sniper should be able to see a hostage and terrorist. Whhen the 2 assualt teams have placed breaching chagres on the doors, give the go code for them to move in and at the same ime snipe that one terrorist u can see through the window

I figured out how to take down that room on elite difficulty, so it should be the same for veteran. I setup a second team at one door, and I take the other door. The other team has a door charge and a go code for a breach, I call out that go code, and enter as quickly as possible. Sadly, I haven't been able to get a single kill in that room, because the breach team is dang good.
BTW, I take the door closer to the catwalk with the sniper, and the breach team takes the other door. Also note that I still haven't finished this map satisfactorily, I always lose a few teammates. Good luck.

You got to get in the room fast, dont set the charges your self, have a team member do it, that way there is no hesitation. If you have the extra manpower, put some shooters on the windows.

Next time I run it, I think I'm going to bring in a third team and flash bang the window. It would be easier if the game had some hand launched distraction devices like maybe a 40mm.

Be warned, everytime I threw a flashbang through the window on elite difficulty, the terrorists killed a hostage.

You know where that sniper is behind the table. Get down and crawl under the window. I find a 3 team breach works every single time on Veteran. You set the third and as you call the code, the 2 breach teams blow stunning the occupants. Wait one second and blow the third door this will give you that extra second for your breach teams to execute everyone....usually before the smoke clears.

Personally I hate the first hostages..... If you go in there last for some reason it's a female dog.

Purchased the game yesterday....not enough time in the day for killing.

Torch, that delayed 2nd breach is a f&^$ing good idea. I wish I had thought of that.
One thing I do different is I take out the sniper from inside the room after the hostages are clear. I use an HBS to find him, then shoot him through the door with an unsuppressed G3A3.

Try to open a door carefully and then drop a frag grenade inside...

Or alternatively use massive amounts of smoke. Let a smoke grenade explode outsiude the room, open the door and through a 2nd and a 3rd one..crouch into the room and finish all tangos...

I didn't have any success with the default mission plan. Heck, I couldn't rescue the first set of targets, as someone in the garage always fired off a shot, or the hostage-watchers saw us through the loft window. As such, I made a new plan from scratch. I'll outline what I did, and if you like it, you can fill in the details (like sniper placement.) This assumes that you've done the map enough times, like me, to know the whole layout by memory. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I created three teams:
Red team consists of 1 sniper with a VSS and two assaults with MP5SD5's and mini-scopes.
Green team: is 3 assaults, using UMP-45's.
Gold team is 2 snipers using WA-2000's.
All teams use a silenced pistol for back up, and carry breaching charges. The last slot can hold anything you like.

Red team starts near the garage, Gold and Green start near the hangar. Starting out:
Red team moves down the alley to their left, along the garage. Their ultimate destination is the back gate, but they hang out about mid-way down the alley until the Alpha-2 code.

Green team goes to the corner of the hanger, looking towards the planes - they do not go around the corner, but should be able to see some of the planes. They provide overwatch for Gold team in case any terrorists rush them.

Gold team sneaks out to the back corner of the fuel truck. They sniper until Alpha1. A terrorist standing on some crates at the far end of the tarmac is their target. Note: The terrorist *always* fires on the snipers. There's about a 50/50 chance of them dying right here. If the terrorist misses, however, he's done for. Either way, his shots normally rouse a terrorist in the hangar office - Green team usually takes him out as he runs up.

Alpha Code:
Red holds position, Green rounds the corner and blitzes some crates near a forklift. I have them park behind the crates, looking down the remainder of the building. If the tango in the office didn't dash out, he's usually behind this crate, often with another guy. Green team takes them out.
Gold team circles around the outside of the tarmac, running along the fence to the runway. They stop on the far side of the "cargo airplane," facing towards the hangar office where that tango comes from. In the off chance he didn't come out of the building, they'll get him here. Once he's dead, call out Bravo1.

Bravo Code: Red holds position. Green team rounds the hangar and heads to the back door of the terminal, past the air conditioning unit. They'll wait at the door until Charlie.
Gold team moves about half-way down the alley and sniper down the alley. You want them to set up as close to the hangar building as possible. This gives them an angle on a terrorist kneeling in the back parking lot. *Warning: there's often a tango looking out a window of the terminal into the alley. Gold team is pretty good about killing him, but he is a threat. Once the kneeling guy is dead, call Charlie.

Charlie code: Red holds position. Green team sneaks through their door and holds at the base of the stairs. They'll take out a guy on the stair landing, and possibly any targets they see in the main terminal.
Gold team moves to the other side of the alley and slightly up, giving them a good view of the stairs behind the garage. Here, they'll sniper the remaining tango in the back parking lot. This clears Red team's advance through the back gate unobserved. Once green and gold get their targets, call Alpha 2.

Alpha2 code: Red team heads down the rest of their alley, opens the gate door, and the sniper tackles that guy hiding behind the barricade on the second floor catwalk of the terminal. I have mixed success here, like with gold's first waypoint. Red team has mini-scopes in case the sniper gets killed.

Gold team leaves the alley and moves to the base of the stairs where Green team has been sitting.

Green team...gets busy. They move to the end of the hallway on the first floor and clear the room there. They then exit that room through the door facing the ticket counter, killing a tango there. They head back through a door they passed earlier, into the hallway where they started. Backtracking, they pass through all the offices on the ground floor, killing a few tangos on the way. They eventually circle around to the hallway on the far side of the building from where they entered. There, they kill 2-3 tangos in the terminal lounge. Once done, they move to the base of the stairs (they passed on this trip,) amid the back offices.

Bravo code: All teams advance up their respective stairs. Red team takes the outside stairs behind the garage. They plant breaching charges on the doors of the hostage rooms - gold and green taking different doors.

Charlie code: they breach the doors simultaneously, flood in, and clear the room. From there, they take all of the hostages back to the extraction point. Red team will have to clear the lower garage along the way, although you could exit the back door they came through, I suppose. I never lost anyone on red team assaulting the lower garage area, however.

Once all hostages are safe, I ran red and green team through two overlapping routes to clear out the hangar. End of mission.

A couple extra notes and explainations after re-reading my post.

1. If red team goes too far down the alley they start at, the terrorist on the back stair will see them and run. I had consistent bad luck with that. He'd move to a postition at the base of the stairs and wipe out Red team when they came through the gate. Bad form.

2. I placed Red Team's sniper position behind a van and under the stairs behind the garage, near the back gate. You could, alternatively, try to set up shop at the front of the van. It all depends on whether you're observing or actually playing. In observation mode, no one goes prone during movement, so the sniper is much more obvious (and targeted) if he goes around the front of the van. If you're actually playing and control the sniper, you can inch out while laying prone, and take out the tango without too much trouble.

3. My description of gold team's actions in the alley sounds vague, in retrospect. When I say they move to the "other side" of the alley, I don't mean the "other end." They stay about mid-way in the alley the entire time, near a blocked doorway. What I meant is that they shift from hugging one wall, to hugging the opposite wall.

4. When green team tops the stairs and goes to place the breaching charge on their door, they discover a lone tango around a corner in the hallway with them. I've seen one of two outcomes here. A.) The terrorist walks through a door into an unoccupied room, or B.) one of the Green team members kills him while the leader is planting the charge. Either way, it's Green team that I watch during this phase. If they shoot, I make sure to hit the go-code as soon as theyr'e ready to breach. I assume there's a good chance that someone in the hostage room might've heard the commotion and is planning to kill the hostages.

5. Despite Red Team's long wait before joining the fray, they've probably got the toughest mission. They have to free one set of hostages on their own and then push through the remaining resistance to get out. That guy on the catwalk can end things in a hurry. Every team member he takes out means there's one less person to breach the hostage room.

I hate hostage missions. Even so, I was pleased to see the plan I've outlined actually works well in observation mode. I accepted the results with Red team's sniper incapacitated, and one Gold sniper wounded. Of course, there were plenty of failed attempts while I worked out all the little things, like placing a sniper "just so."

I sincerely hope that RS adds some new options to the planning phase. There should be a movement option for the prone position, for one. There should also be a way to make your team members watch a specific direction during movement. Gold team wouldn't have any problem with that guy in the alley window, and Green team could keep a closer eye on the stair landing. Being unable to make your teams aware of something so obvious was endlessly frustrating. Lastly, there needs to be a way to make sure that snipers don't switch to their side arm while moving. Without a doubt, the only reason for any injuries was due to the time it took them to switch weapons.
