I seem to be having a problem with shortcuts to websites that I place on my desktop. I think it has something to do with SP2 since it didn't happen before. When I click on the desktop icon, I get this screen. http://img88.exs.cx/img88/8114/Shortcut.jpg

Then I have to click on it to get this Forum. There is a box which I check but it doesn't seem to be able to remember or hold the instruction.

It's not a big issue but it does defeat the shortcut concept. Is there some setting in Internet Options that I have to activate maybe?

In Windows Explorer (not internet explorer) go to the Tools menu and select folder options. Click on the File Types tab and make sure that .htm and .html files are set to open with your preferred browser.

Thanks for your help Tully.

I have made the changes as you have suggested but I still have the same problem. Am I still doing something wrong? Here is a pic of my settings.

Strange. Thought I would check it again and the shortcut is now working the way it should.

Many thanks Tully.

Hmm is there a reason you just don't bookmark it? And add it to your list of Favorites.

Here is a pic of my mess. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/T_O_A_D/Favorites.jpg) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Yes,I also have it bookmarked and added to favourites but that's an extra step to go through if you don't have an icon on your desktop. This way, when I turn my puter on, all I have to do is click on the icon. When you get to my age, every second counts. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

NOT!
just make it your StartPage http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Tools - Internet Options in I.E. - and go use Mozilla Firefox - its far better and saver

But whichever you use - you can still get here without doing even 1 click http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Put your browser in startup folder - make forum your home page :P

Startup and you're here http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Warning ! don't do this if you have a 56k phone line and pay by-the-minute - connecting can cost you...

But if you have a fixed-price 24/7 connection like me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Question: Did you back-up your files?
Answer: I didn't know they had a reverse...
