Received this book for my birthday:

"For Your Freedom and Ours" by Olson and Cloud about the Polish Kosciusko Squadron which fought with the RAF. Very impressive book and even more impressive story.

Intersting on the explanation of tactics used by the Poles so that they achieved the most kills of any RAF squadron in the Battle of Britain. The tactic will be familiar to most il2 players - wait until the enemy fills your gunsight and then keep shooting until the sob bursts into flames.

Also refers to the frequency with which German pilots shot enemy pilots in parachutes especially in the Battle of Poland but also in the Battle of Britain, to the extent that the Poles would circle a comrade in a parachute until he was on the ground to protect him. I had heard of similar events from American bomber escorts as being very unusual. Anybody aware of any statistics on this?
