CFS1 and 2 were enjoyable. Is CFS3 any good? Reviews generally say it has great potential but fell short of expectations because it was released prematurely. Anyone play this? Have the patches improved the game? I read a review of an add on (@ Gamespot.com) called FirePower that said the add on really improved the game...

Nope, it still stinks.

Seriously, its not good.

If you simply must try something new, lomac isn't bad, and FS2004 is quite nice (if you don't need to shoot stuff to have a good time).

AEP is the only air-combat sim worth playing right now.

I was discusted with CFS3 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif, especially after waiting a year and half for it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/smileys-gun2.gif. Buts thats just my opinion. For some folks the game runs great on their systems, and they love it.

The patch really didn't address the "stutters" It added a knee pad map and corrected some little bugs I never even noticed.

FS2004 is really nice though, I love it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

CFS3 original = stinks
CFS3 + Patch = stinks

CFS3 + Firepower AddOn = more planes that blow up prettier and the canopies open in a poor excuse for a combat flight sim that STILL STINKS.......

I have them all.....please don't tell anyone...it might ruin my reputation...I can't believe I was so stupid to get taken once, and then I WENT BACK FOR MORE!

It's just that the FIREPOWER DEMO looked sooo good ......

Hmmm.....don't sound opinionated do I?

Well, can you imagine how much money I've wasted on that stuff? Think of what you could buy?

If more people in the IL2 community spent some "quality" time with these products then perhaps they would'nt whine so much......

Oleg Maddox is at the top of his craft...if you don't think so, then just have'nt spent enough time with the current alternative...

My two cents......Ummm actually my 70 or so dollars...down the toliet..

CFS3 is the cat's meow!! The patch is just amazing and it blows IL2 out of the water no questions asked. It is the flight sim of the Decade.....
But than again I like and rather enjoy wet toilet seat lids in public restrooms. It's all really a matter of perception in the end you know,
hope this helped. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

I just bought CFS3. Seemed a good deal at 12. Even with the patch it crashes to desktop far too often, the cockpits are mostly ugly, etc. Don't buy it unless you have to have a flyable B25 right now.

Good one Aaron,
Of course, re-selling cfs3 to the unsuspecting will get you a trip to hell in the afterlife probably.

Do empty planes still shoot at you if you fly past them? They did after the first CFS3 patch!

Actually, try ww2online, I find it to be pretty good, much better than CFS3.

Nothing beats IL2 though - (I just like the bigger world action of ww2online)

Thanks, guys. I'll avoid it. I'm also a huge fan of FS2004, as some of you mentioned, so I thought CFS3 might be worth a try. Fired up CFS2 last night for all of two minutes. Couldn't bear it. I thought I remembered the graphics being much better than they were--but that was four years ago! So I shut it down and played FB AEP. Can't wait for Pacific Fighters!

If your referring to the 3.01 patch(or something like that) it only changes the DM for a few aircraft, only ones I remember are the P47, B26, a few other bombers. Had to do with the fact that no matter where the flak hit your engine dies.

CFS 3 helped me-when I returned it I discovered IL-2. I am very lucky that the blasted thing didn't kill flight sims for me, but at that point I was already (luckily) hooked on fs2002. After I got IL-2, I never looked back.

eek...that says something...unfortunately it's nothing good.

I wish someone had done me the service of comparing WW2Online with CFS3 (and telling me it was better) before I requested it last Christmas - would've saved me a lot of time. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I still fly CFS2 alot, ytons of great add-ons still in production. But Its really not a good match agienst IL2. CFS3, never got it and I'm glad for that. So for my single player I go CFS2, for multiplayer its IL2 FB AEP.
