If possible can you fix my fav plane! No model of P-40 will exceed 300mph or about 420kph in lvl flight at any alt. Even the in-game description of the plane gives an average top speed of 350MPH some models slightly higher some a bit lower but all could achieve over 300 mph in lvl flight. I have tried flying all models empty weapons 25% fuel none execeed 300MPH at any altitude, M model is stated to top out at 362MPH at 6100 meters. doesnt come close. I fly it with full real settings with correct supercharger settings at their rated altitudes. yes flaps are up and radiator closed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I love the new patch but was hoping speed would be a little more improved in the P-40. Thanks for listening..-John

The P-40M had a top speed of 362MPH Im not sure about its cruise speed but I would think its much slower then top speed. Now the cruise speed for the P-47D is 350MPH while the top speed is 430MPH, neither is reached easily. Cruise speed shouldnt take forever to obtain. IMO the US planes will never be treated fairly even though there is probably more readily available data for them then anyother.

Just took out a D22,10 and both speeds were easily reached from take at relativly quick pace. Easily recovered from sustained climb......

Try using rad closed and 90% prop pitch after a dive. If I remember right I could maintain 300mph for a looong time this way but eventually it did bleed off a bit. Watch your altitude dial closely to be sure your not climbing.

Wow, if the P-40's speed is that far off that is terrible. I haven't tested it so I can't say. When I did fly the P-40 it seemed like it never came near reaching its top speed. I'll have to test it out.

Test for P-40E (100% throttle, 100% fuel, rad closed summer, noon)

Object viewer

1524m: 539km/h
3050m: 555km/h
5470m: 583km/h

I got

1524m: 476km/h
3050m: 506km/h
5470m: 537km/h

So in all altitudes the topspeed is at least 50km/h less than specs. At 1524m and 3050m 100% prop pitch gave the best speed, and at 5470m 95% pitch gave the best speed.

Wow, that is really bad Fennec. I hope someone brings this to Oleg's attention. How can something this blatent be missed or ignored? This should be moved to ORR if it hasn't already and Fennec you should post your results there. It should be officially reported as well if this is the case.

Hopefully neither missed nor ignored. Considering what was left out in 1.1 beta, it seems they are pressed for time.

One can only say "two weeks" and be optomistic.

It was not fixed becuase the people that fly the p40 did not whine over and over that it's broken,or could it be if we ever got to 300mph it exploded /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Time to start a P-40 whinners thread /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

hm...good point Pourshot /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I also never got past 300mph in level flight. In a dive yes but it would always slow down way bellow rated 350mph top speed. In regular flight P-40 is doing around 250mph... oh and before the patch this was even lower, namely 300mph /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif Not fast at all if you ask me /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Can you just imagine the stink it would cuase if any of the more well known planes were this under modeled.

EDIT: ooops I meant 200mph
hmmm
EDIT2: the 200mph was to correct the 300mph value... just in case someone wonders what I was referring to http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In USAAF evaluation of P-40E v. Me109F2/F4, the P-40E specs. were:

Top speed - 361mph @ 15,000ft.

Climb - 7.2min. to 15,000ft.

Service ceiling - 30,000ft.
