Several friends that are hard core bomber pilots in other sims are hoping that FB might add flyable allied bombers shortly.. I know the A20 is in the pipeline..as well as the B25.. But I haven't seen if either will have a version with a Norden..or even a bomb site at all..is there any published info on that..search came up negative for me in the forums..

And I haven't seen any info on the B24 project..or a B17 interior..so I assume they are out of the realm of possibility now?

Any info would be appreciated.. While its not exactly my cup of tea, there are TONS of people who fly bombers almost exclusively in sims..and this could add quite a bit of market for FB type projects..

As you said there are some mediums in the works. If ppl are modelling a version which used a bombsight be sure it will be included correctly. As for the big bombers. It's quite hard work to do all the gunner stations and stuff. 1st of all because there are so many details and stuff, sometimes there's not enough material, turrets have to move and stuff. Just take a look at ORR or hop over to netwings. You'll see that the modelers are doing a great job but sometimes it takes quite some time http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif btw Omega Squad was working on a He177 and a Lancester as well, which they said they'll finish after the current projects are done but I think they'll be AI only.

Oh and of course:

Jippo's and Dietger's wonderful, great, unbelievable, incredible JU88 versions http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I am a big fan of medium and heavy bombers - I still can remember the excitement of flying B-17 in the "Mighty Eight" game. I really love the idea of damage assesment and control, and landing a beat up bomber is a challenge many will fail in. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The modelling of such a monster however is challenge even I will fail in. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Given the amount of detail in IL2 series, plus the large number of whiners, every plane must be modelled and textured top-notch, which is time consuming task. The Maddox team are working their a$$es off every day on flight models, fighter craft, land craft, code improvements, and so on, plus doing a lot of research, investigation and information gathering and processing...

So I wil be just patient and wait for anything that will show up. And I am certain, that there will be bombsights and stuff... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I could see the nose area of the B17 being a nightmare to make..but similar to the He111 in terms of complexity.. The gunner positions I'd disagree with though.. With the excecption of the waist and the radio compartment roof gunner, they are turrets, ,with very limited view of the interior..basically you see the outsided well, and the structure of your turret.. The waist positions obviously require a full fuselage view, and the radio gunner spot a smaller but still substantial view of an interior..

To be honest, I'd produce the B17 cockpit/nose with a norden (similar in complexity to the He111's), and the Top, Tail, and Belly gunners positions.. the rest are singles and could just as easily be AI. You could even go with all AI gunners except the nose area, but the twin positions would be a great compromise.. still a BOATLOAD of 3D modelling..but the info in there with great pictures etc.

I certainly hope it eventually makes the game.. It will bring in new people, and open up a lot of Coop opportunities for coordinated misions.
