Hi all,

I just bought FB/AEP and right now I would like to start up a historical single player dynamic campaign on the westfront.

What are my options? Lowengrin IL2DCG? Just Flight BOE?

Will the expansions be compatible with the latest patch?

Thanks!

You might get a range of opinions. My personal choice was BoE from Just Flight. But it doesn't include AEP aircraft unless you past them in with FMB. Slow.

There are a dozen user-built campaigns around that will put you in the action fast. Try Hotspace's Spitfire campaign. You'll find it in the Mission Builders Forum. The benchmark is probably the RAF Campaign created by Extreme One and Poymando, with GB voice pack by NSTELA. But there are many smaller campaigns you can fly offline as a single player. You might start by going to Netwings.com and checking their download page.

In short, there are more good campaigns, paint schemes and missions than most of us have time to fly. Good luck.

Get BOE, Starshoy has commented that after the release of the AEP patch and the coding, they will release a patch for BOE to incorporate the AEP(AEPpatch)planes. BOE was built on the 1.22 version. Custom campaigns by community members are awsome as well. Take DONB3397's advice and get those campaigns.

Thanks guys,

I appreciate the swift replies:-)

As soon as BOE will accept the latest patch I will probably buy it. It would be great if they also included the P-38 and a RAF option with the Spitfire IX and the B-25's?

I just sent BoE patch/addon to JustFlight.
It was ready for quite some time and relatively well tested. I just checked tonight briefly most important aspects, it looks like eveything still works http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

New careers:

P-38
Me-163
BF-110
Ju-87D5
RAF (Spitfire IX, Mustang III)

Online "Africa" campaign.

BoE NGen now understands loadable lists of planes and squadrons, so you can hack it - on your own risk, of course http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

DCG is the way to go, IMHO.

All the AEP planes, all the maps, you can customize almost everything, use any skins you want to, pretty amazing. I'll bet there's a new version out with patch planes within a day or two.

I bought BOE. Since Starshoy designed the original off line camapaigns for IL-2 and FB, which were very lame, I wasn't expecting much. I was right. They aren't dynamic, they're linear (despite what he says). In many there are great herds of B-17s that slow your frame rate to a slide show. There are huge historical inaccuracies in what are supposed to be historical campaigns.

I tried it for awhile, then went back to DCG for my offline flying. Don't even use BOE any more except for a Frisbee for my dog http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But, everyone's tastes are different...

Meanwhile, BBury has already updated all of his coops to use the patch planes. There's a link to his site on his thread at SimHQ. Along with Hangar, he's the best mission designer in the game.

Even if they didn't come with the patch, there are plenty of missions to fly with the new planes (as soon as I get home from work and download the patch http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Hey, when your dog is done chewing it, would you throw it across the pond? I might be interested giving it a try, since I can't find it around here...

Thanks in advance! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BTW, I Lied!

Paul has a NEW version of DCG out today with all the new patch planes AND it adds them to your existing campaigns without losing all your previous stats.

And it's free:
