One simple question...
Wich is for you, the best use of the flaps on these situations:
Lets suppose youâ´re flying an 109K4 against an 109G10, that means two similar a/c.
1) Low speed turning fight at low level (below 350kph).
2) High speed energy fight (250 to 450 kph)
(if I was not cleare, that means youâ´re climbing and diving in a turning doghfight between NOE and 1500 mts).
3) Do you use them on a scissor?
4) In fact, do you really use them? (cause I didnâ´t till now)
Thanx a lot, and be sure all your wisdom will be used for me to kill this f...ing guy , I still cannot kill. Any help accepted.
Alejandro.

All depends on the aircraft. In VVS planes you can use them with sucess cuz VVS hardly loose any energy.
I fly LW and never use flaps besides landings. However I`ve seen many flying G2 use flaps to tighten turns. This is because of G2 great ability to accelerate thus regain energy - faster than any VVS aircraft till `42.

So, if flying an La-7... most of the time I should use the flaps, in the conditions iâ´ve mentioned, while in a turning dogfight?

Well,I think using flaps against LA aircraft isn`t necessary cuz nobody sane flying LW will turn with VVS.You can use flaps if you see LW turning with you though.Flaps are a good weapon in VVS vs VVS dogfights.
Remember that flaps are a good way to dump speed so watch it.And in FB flaps aren`t working like they should.

thanxs carguy, so , guess it was fine not using them a lot cause of the bleed of energy.
Gonna try to find another way to survive.

Just as a note, after patch flaps will be MUCH more powerful. In 08 they are very strong and are the only way to slow down. It is hard to aim/shoot with flaps in 08 because they pull your nose up pretty hard. If you have a "one shot one kill" weapon like MK-108 or NS37 then flaps can be useful for a VERY brief burst in angle of attack to get that killer shot in. You will still stall but you will pull your lead/nose just a little further with flaps.
