View Full Version : Hyperlobby vs ISDN...getting disconnected, assistance required!

I tried flying on Hyperlobby for the first time yesterday, and I got alot better ping than on Ubi.com.

I use a ISDN (64K) line, and high ping/lag has put me off online playing, but on Hyperlobby it worked great, no lag, super-smooth...

BUT...my dialer seems to think I'm idling, and throws me off the line after 30 mins. I've set the "disconnect on idle" to 2hrs, 3hrs, 4hrs and of course "Never" without any change.

This doesn't happen on Ubi.com because the dialer probably recognizes that as "proper" activity. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

This happens with mIRC as well, but it's not much of a problem there, as I'm usually browsing while I'm chatting.

Is there anywhere else (other than in the connection-properties) I can tune the idle-disconnect-time or is it my ISP perhaps?

Have you tried the All Seeing Eye (ASE)? I only get timed out servers, each and everyone of them, when I use HL, but I've had great ping rates (admittedly with servers on this side of the world, mostly China and Japan)when usind ASE. I think I have a setting wrong in HL, but I don't for the life of me know which setting or how to change it.

HL isn't the problem, I get great pings and stable connections, it's my internet connection.

It doesn't think hyperlobby (or IRC for that matter) is activity, and considers it idle.
(My mom does to btw)
So it auto-disconnects me from the internet (not from the game) regardless of my disconnect-on-idle settings...

I actualy have my connection set to Never diconnect.

Also you can change it so that your comp wont go into hybernation to. Youl need to go into the Display Properties to make any changes.

Bump!

Does anyone know if dialup ISPs have auto-disconnects on their end?

Adjusting these settings in the connection-properties is not changing anything... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I could call my ISP, but trying to get ISDN help from the former state-owned Telenor that now only cares about selling broadband and cell phones (and not supporting) is only slightly more preferable than getting your eyes picked out by angry birds.

Most do. Try visiting their website and see if there is any information on the amount of idle time before a disconnect. Does it drop your connection completely or just disconnect you from IRC/HL servers? Does it drop you while ingame? Hyperlobby automatically disconnects you after ~20 minutes if you dont type anything into the chat or move into a game slot.

Try checking the HL forums http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz

German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

It drops my connection completely.

I'm still in the game, on infinite lag. The other planes are warping along the ground.

You need to get one of those anti-disconnect programs. Stay Alive and Stayon are a couple off the top of my head. You can do a google search for them. They simulate internet activity for you. They just send http commands every now and then so your connection thinks it is active.
