For the ones experienced with this i have the following questions:

Best aircraft ? I personally really like the PI63 :]

Map ? I need a map to fly at. [Basically a really bright airport :P].

Although its not the most meneuvrable aerobatics plane, the P-38 seems to be second to none in holding a good tight formation easily.. maybe its the acceleration, or the lack of torque.. it just seems like you can realy lock right in easier than other planes..

In our team,we fly the P-51D-5NT.(as you can see in my sig)
Pretty good acceleration, great manouvrability and a nice view outside.

For the map,I have a map made for aerobatics;really flat base, with no hills and stuff.I'll see if i can find a link to the file.

I've always done my aero practice in the P-39, especially going back to the early IL-2 days when it was really likely to bite you.

I figured if I could do all sorts of precision stuff like that right on the edge in a 'Cobra without "killing" myself, combat would be relatively easy.

Seems to have worked out fairly well.

i'm a big fan of the La-5FN for solo aerobatic routines.. handles like a dream at low speeds and a pretty wicked roll rate w/ superb stability

FW190D is great - so is the La series - it depends (and changes per patch allmost) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I've seen Hurri's FW90's La's P51's doing FB aerobatics http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif so those should be allright http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

There are many planes that take well to it, and in a way, some of the fun, is flying planes that don't quite take to it, or are a pit more tricky.

The 109Gs, the 190s, P-39 and 63, LAs, KI-84s, and p51s (low roll rate though) and many others all work well now for most types of maneuvers. But some have sloooow roll rate that loos even slower form the gorund/outside.

Some like the spit, zero, and yak are simply far too forgiving and if you cant get a nice snap roll, tumble, or spin out of them, then they don't make it onto my list, since that is a biggie for me. I also like a good roll rate as mentioned before.

My team flys the Fw-190A5 which is a great plane for aerobatics, but at the same time, low level max performance work requires a lot of practice in that aircraft because it is not forgiving of pilot error. The LA-7, with its new better roll rate is extrememly capable, and also extremly easy to fly through just about anything you can do in the sim, and you can do it lower in that than most anything else even when you are first starting out. So this could bea good one to start in. With partice though, and by showcasing what the particular plane's strengths are you can fly pretty much anythign in the sim and make it cool. As far as solo aerobatics this isnt the case . . . and I would use somethign on that list above.

Many planes that aren't on that list would be great in a formation team that flew more in the normal flight regime (without snap rolls spins etc), like the spit or p-38, as they are easy to fly up close in, but for freestlye acro they are limited. On the other hand, take a limited plane, and find the key to unlock it's potential, and now you have something worth watching!!

Most maps should probably be custom done, and it helps to have markers on the extended runway centerline and on its X axis line as well. Really all you need is a map near sea level, with enough stuff on the ground so that when you are on downlines and trying to recover your spins or rolls or whatever on a heading you can see what that heading is.

I think the mig3U is the best acrobat plane or the lagg3.

Personally, I like the P-40. It'sa great aerobatic plane with it's lower end speed and high roll rate. However, for a ton of fun, try a YP-80 or a He-162!

Not staying up late anymore? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Good to see your still around. I still fly formation when I get the chance. ONLY way to learn all of the aircrafts' strengths and weaknesses. Keep an eye open for me online bro and we'll hook up again.
