I personally find the default pilot skins rather dull, plain, incorrectand and lacking detail. So I make my own, wearing historicaly correct uniforms and flight gear according to WWII pics. Here is me flying a FW (skin by UF Zargos)as a LW pilot.http://atlas.walagata.com/w/elephant/elephant_2.jpg What do you think?

No,he is wearing a
Siemens Netzopfhaube LKp N 101
in black color. It was the most common
LW fighter pilot helmet made of leather
and cloth. The shadows on earphone housings are making
a perspective illusion.

What is Amazing is the fact that elephant_il2 does these without the benefit of any specialised software and they are staggering http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Keep it going elephant! I use your pilot skins. They really add to realism http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just a small historical note:

a) The collar insignia were not worn on flight gear such as leather jackets or jumpsuits. The shoulder caps were by no means a regular thing, although many attached them to their custom jackets. On flight gear there were simplified rank insignia on the arm.

b) The shoulder caps did contain only very little yellow and so it shouldn't be visible in this scale.

c) The tie was only part of daily uniform as well as dress uniform. It wasn't worn for flights (for obvious reasons http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif).

something else then all the Osama bin laden pilot faces. I like it!!

csThor you are not so right on your historical
note.Regular tunics were worn as part of flight gear.I didn't claimed this particular pilot was wearing a flight jacket.Ties may not worn so often but take a look on the picture below! As for the shoulder caps I didn't paint any yellow actually.Officers shoulder caps were white with yellow triming and for the reason you mentioned I painted them in a difusing light gray color.I must have done it well if you picked up yellow.
