Looking at all the new models and combining with all the models we alreaady have , I can't help feeling that we are living in a unique time in sim history. We have a vast quantity of aircraft to choose from, all of high quality, and all going thru one game designer for many different theatres, and all cam be played online and offline.

I don't think this will repeated any time soon, as Oleg has said it will be less quantity with BOB, and CFS (if it is not discontinued) will probably always be open for counless mods and variations. WHen we post here about a plane or terrrain, we can all compare it to the copy on our hard drive. Only the paint jobs and mission designs differ. In many years we may look back in wonder at how all these planes were produced by Maddox/community and how special this time indeed was for the WWII flight sim enthusiast.

Don't be to sure, as IL2 was designed to have very few Flyable aircraft (only one actually http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

As time progresses and Oleg makes more money to invest in flight sim creation, I hope Oleg makes his flight sim code so he can easily change his future AI aircraft to Flyable. Remember, IL2 was supposed to have only Flyable IL2.

The situation now is Ideal, as most planes in FB are Flyable the next step is not reducing the number of Flyable aircraft but improving the FM and DM coding for all.

That should be the next step in flight sims, well, next to New, Bigger, and MORE clouds. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif -- imagine a Tank Sim with no roads, no buildings, no trees, no hills. That is a flight sim with no weather.

Very true. To think that we have spent less than 50 (or thereabouts) on FB and AEP is remarkable considering the sheer detail that goes into not only the aircraft models and flight models but all the free updates / patches that most people seem to take for granted.

it is true we do not have too much in the way of physical weather effects ATM in il2

Well, we have rain, snow, thunderstorm (with lightning), low cloud system (fog), high cloud. Bad weather turbulence, cloud turbulence. Ok, it`s not a whole weather system, but come on, it`s pretty immersive in any of those conditions at night, dusk, midday or the sunlight of early dawn...

If you could alter each of those weather settings individually, it would be adequate.

But having to choose from a half dozen canned weather types, is repetitive to the extreme.

Something as simple as a raining, windless day is impossible with the current system. As is a simple windy, clear day.

I have thought the same thing, that what we have here is almost too good to be true, and a unique moment. The friends and aquaintances we have made flying online, the wonderful sim, how it will still work with my crappy dial up connection. Things will change. I am glad I was here.

Yes we all like to complain about this or that (me included). Before we go deep into a weather discussion and all of the nuances of meteorology, the point of this thread was to take time to smell the roses, because (I hope I'm wrong) , but we may never see the scope of this sim from a single source ever again.

OK - back to complaining.

yes what other game can we fly on a square map and crash into invisable tree plates from the side, go to 7000m and see a haze circle.

I rather have fs2004s ground graphics personally, high alt fx thier great clouds, surburb weather effects, full world terrain, real engine sounds, reflective models and world physics where gravity has an effect on dive speeds, yaw reverse rate of roll http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

best thing about il2s engine is the cockpits, aircraft models, anticheating aids and water fx.

Now if someone would copy the way fs2004 does certain things BOB will be truely special

Thunderstorms. You should be able to fly out of them, or into them (better, around them if you have the fuel)...and see them from 100+ km away. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Spit IX HF or Ta152 may be able to fly over them...possibly.

One one side fly in clear sky, on the other...

So Iam the only one who would be happy with less planes and more detail? :/

Sometimes it seems (like somebody said earlyer) that extra planes are made to distract simmers from the true faults of the game. While I agree in some extent I hope the developper has learned from this too. My all hopes and prayers go to BoB and that they will make its engine as good as possible!

I admire what they have doned with FB engine but still some things just catch my eye too much. Diving and zoom climbing features the most.

Don't worry alarmer, BoB is a fewer-planes-more-detail game. You're gonna love it.
