Just ordered a Wacom Graphire3 - Now I need some tips on how to use it properly.

Besides that I desperately need some tips on exercises for painting/drawing.. cause I really suck http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I know there are many talents out there, so just give me a few pointers on how to become better (less bad) at painting/drawing

Thanks a lot http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

you should check the paint schemes forum, the il2skins forum, or screenshot arts forum, many artists belonging to the community lurk around these forums.

There are several good "how to get started" skinning and painting tutorials around the net.

Here's one set of tutorials at Skinner's Heaven (http://www.1java.org/sh/index.html).

Even with those, it's not easy to get the fantastic results I've seen people get. I shake my head at their ueberness sometimes.

Because of the time I spend trying to get proficient at 3d modeling, it's hard to get the time in to develop serious 2D Photoshop chops. My work is improving, but it has a loooooong way to go before I could rival some of the folks in here!!

Can you make any good skins with Painter Classic? As that is the program I'm getting with my tablet.

Anybody else use this program?

I was cracking my fingers then getting ready with the big oil painting tutorial, but then I realised you meant the digital form of painting and drawing...

When other artists talk about whose work they like it tends to be Rembrandts, Picassos, Pollocks, etc. I get quite a few blank stares when I say, Hammerd and CanonUK.
