Well, AC Chronicles actually used to be a 2.5D PoP game. They scrapped that and turned it into Chronicles so there's that.
The graphics won't look like that, those are bullshots. Just watch AC Chronicles: China gameplay on youtube, that's how this one will play too.

Actually half of the things AC has come from cancelled POP games... Kinda sad, that they have to use stuff from a "forgotten" IP to keep this one alive, the same IP that gave birth to this one... Very sad... And we all know they could co-exist, like they used to do in the begining. Everyone was happy.

Well, Sands of Time is actually set in Ancient India. The Prince is part of the invading army and the Princess is technically Indian and the villain is also an Indian.

As for the resemblance, its more the fact that both games use the classical kitsch "oriental color scheme" - hot colours, weird yellow glint and glow, a particular picturesqueness. It's part of a huge repository of cliches about the East developed by 19th Century authors and chroniclers. It is incredibly disappointing that Ubisoft went this way. They managed to dial down this kitsch element to some extent in AC1 and Revelations but they went for broke in this Chronicles:India package.

Agreed. There is no doubt that PoP SOT inspired Chronicles:India. That is basically the Maharajah's Garden, minus the traps. My guess is that they were going for that style and colour scheme because it has that "clichéd look" about it.

Ubisoft saying that this is a tribute to the POP franchise... What? On AC? No no, Ubisoft. Climax Studios used the 2.5 cancelled POP to create a new Assassin´s Creed. A tribute to POP would be to make a new game to celebrate the 25th anniversary to that franchise, not taking more ideas from that IP to push it into AC.

Now AC looks exactly like a modern Classic Prince of Persia game. And that´s supposed to be new? Please...
