I like the ground padlock and wish there was a way to use it only. I don't really like the air padlock, mainly beacuse it messes with my SA on air targets. I know it's weird, but ground works well for me, but air I really dislike.

I don't mind either way with padlock but would really like to see external padlock switchable independant of the external view toggle.

Internal padlock is great for me. No Track IR and likely not something I'll have for a while so while the hat switch works my thumb gets tired and padlock does help the situation in a tense dogfight.

It messes up my SA too. I don't use it.

I wish I could adjust ID labels for offline. I don't use them either.

I think Gozr has a server. Maybe he's trying to gauge the best use for the feature and he's not pathetic enough to be too proud to ask. I'm an offline cripple and I don't mind answering.

Padlock?,What´s that?A lock for your mousepad to prevent unauthorize usage?....... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

padlock on...last time it was off I lost $500 in tools and 2 bikes.

padlock should be on ALWAYS why? bcus not all of us have TIR
and padlock doesnt help other than tracking your target so it isnt an advantage if everybody has acces to it

still i dont use it tho it always makes me crash when close to the ground http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

With the track ir you can so easly lost track of your enemy. when i tried the padlock on it was much easyer to fallow enemy.
Also in the clouds and against the sun and shadows.

When i setup the competition with the frenchs , i dealed with them to get speed bar and friendly icon name only 2 k and map path.

They wanted just to fly total full real.

But i did explain that many of the planes don't have a good view to their gauges.
the Path to ovoid to get lost since the map is using the same textures over and over afgain so the path would help to compensate with real life.

And the SHORT distance friendly icon with just the name of your team m8 with the same raison since we see better details in real life.

But Padlock? they'll think what of us?
I realy like to hear what you have all to say..

Also some international Coops is coming as well.
If someone has historical setup, you can send it to me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif THX
US will play US , French swill play Frenchs etc...

I used to use Padlock a lot at the beginning, but never now, even on servers where it`s allowed. My personal technique of using the Mouse as my view enables me the freedom to TRACK more than one opponent and avoids that deadly fixation.

The only reason why it`s still useful for me is ordering AI aircraft to attack a specific bogey on your six or individual ground targets (more for ground targets really).

Eagle_361st`s suggestion is a good one.

I usually don't care.

Most of the time, padlock doesn't give those who use it that much of an advantage. (Although, i must admit a little chagrin when I recently got *nailed* while in a cloud because the guy who shot me just used padlock to point his nose at me when he couldn't see me himself)

In fact, padlock is a good simulation of fixation, and can be turned against a pilot who's dependant on it.

I always have, and always will get my own views with a trusty old hatswitch. But, by and large, I don't think padlock is a "cheat"; it's in some ways a pretty decent simulation of human visual acuity.

I always host Coops with padlock on, although I personally only use it for seeing ground targets and even then I unlock them before I attack them because, as mentioned, padlock too easily results in target fixation, especially bad when diving toward the ground http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. It's just too hard to pick out ground targets on the new maps (air targets, too).

I really don't like it in air-to-air fighting. I sometimes use it to spot a plane below me but not in the fight itself. Same thing: Fixation. Some people like it, some don't. If you fly in my Coops you have the choice.

Without peripheral vision, I find it too easy to get disoriented when I'm padlock to an opponent, air or ground.

BTW, I have (and love) TIR. But, even though they advertise it as "an end to the padlock debate" it really isn't a straight substitute. Padlock provides you with short range "radar" while TIR does not.

Is that a "crutch"? I don't think so. When you can't spot aircraft (particularly against the terrain) that would be easily seen in Real Life, I think it actually adds to the realism a bit.

My opinion is free and worth what you paid for it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
