It seems that pilots die long after chute deployment. I tested it and came up with this. I started QMB alone with a 109. I tested over 30 times by rolling the plane over at low alt and bailing out. I know the pilot did not hit the plane becuase the pilot died consistently if the chute was deployed for approx under 15 seconds before landing, and lived consistently after it was deployed for over 15 secs. Here are a couple tracks

Parachute deceleration is extremly quick and violent (I know first hand), and I see no reason why a pilot should die after the chute has been deployed for over a couple seconds. It is a fairly insignificant aspect to this great sim, but I thought I would test it out, as it can be frustrating to bail successfully, and die for no reason.

I had always assumed there was a minimum altitude required in order for the parachute to slow the pilot down enough for landing...is it possible in this case that might be what the 15 seconds is all about?

There is the airspeed of the plane as well as freefall acceleration to consider, maybe the game is just simulating the time needed to decelerate to the normal parachute landing velocity.

Maybe? I don't know enough of the physics involved so this is just thinking aloud.

u need about 5 seconds after the initial slow-down from the deployment of the chute to live. but then again its all relative to speed ov decent.

I have had this experience as well. Flying at 250KPH indicated, no enemy around for 30k (Looked at mission builder) jumping from a height of 1000m. There is no way that should kill you unless they modeled in crappy chute packers.
