there is no dedicated software for AEP yet http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif , are you doing this from a home network? or are you leasing a server?

The "dedicated server" is a piece of software.

It is essentially the game optimized for hosting (it gives better gameplay to the clients). If you run a dedicated server - you can't join that game on the computer its running on. You have to enter like any other player. If you don't you will just see messages.

Dedicated servers on the internet are just computers. They would need the abovementioned software to run smooth though... Check your local computer centres...

Rumour is it will be out with the patch. And Oleg just had some pictures posted (look in ORR) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I see a desert coming...

This is by far the best guide I ever came across and it also helps you to setup the FBD software in conjunction with the DSS.

Hope it helps

it would be cheaper for you to buy a router ($40) and an old 1GHZ system ( about $100) if all you want to do is host 10 ppl, I host a 20 person server and play CoD at the same time http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

hmm i find that hard to believe. I used to only be able to host 6 ppl on battlefield 1942 with a 384kbs upload. Now ive moved and my upload is only 256kbs http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Whats your upload?

Sam311,
As posted in another message. I will be offering hosting for IL2 FB AEP once the dedicated server comes out. I am currently working on the pricing and all. This will be in a data center on a superfast connection (OC-48). Contact me on our website if you're interested.

The IL2 series are very frugal with bandwidth. I've seen good 6 player missions hosted on 56k in Sturmovik.

BF1942 is very bandwidth intensive though and a 32 player server required 10mb line whereas a 32 player IL2 server only requires maybe 4mb line (I help run both). With IL2 you can edit one of the config files (I forget which one) to change the channels to how many users you want and this alters the bandwidth allocation.

On your line you maybe able to host a game for 10 people for IL2.
