It looks like you can barely hear the other aircraft now. People are going to get bounced like mad on Multi-player now! (and I'll probably be one of them http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif )

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Oops I didn't mean to come across that I didn't like it. I'm all for it as I hate it when people know I'm there. Problem is that I did rely on the sound of firing and engines to know what was going on, you couldn't ignore the sound even if it wasn't realistic http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

TrackIR sales are sure to go up! And planes with bad visibility to the rear are going to be slightly less popular on "cockpit on" I would imagine.

Well that is excellent news! Got so tired of manuevering to get behind people so they wouldn't see me, only to have them do some hard turn manuever before I was close enough to get a shot off.

Maybe some of the lower altitude fights will be a little different online now. Like maybe the Russian fighters hanging on a little too long chasing aircraft because they "can't" hear the aircraft coming up from behind. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It will be interesting to see. Can't wait to get on "close to full real" settings server to find out.

It's really great you can even barely hear the Mk 108s firing on a Me 262.

I was flying in a 109 G6 AS in QMB just now and this Mustang creeped up behind me when I checked my 6, he opened up and all I could hear were the rounds impacting and his muzzles flashing. Then it was straight down in flames for me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif wow lol.

A plane has to fly really really close for you to even hear the slightest woosh and you have to fly at low rpms too I couldn't even hear 16 B 17s in formation.

Update: You can hear things a lot better in an open cockpit though like the Rata

Excellent news! I hated hearing planes within a 1 km range around me.
Gonna do a clean install and install the new patch ASAP!

I must have been cursed after the last patch because I never got to experience that 'bug'. The only thing I got was that butt clenching aaa from across the map. I did wonder how folks knew I was on their six before I even fired a shot..ahh, now I know.

No question -- the sound realism is improved. Has anyone noticed a difference in the FMs? I've only flown the 109G6, Mustang and Jug so far. If there is a difference, it's very small.

It's the only thing!

this is so great !!!!!!!!!!! its finally going to be like 90% of all the real combat kills ...

guy is flying allong minding his own business and bam!!! bogy comes flying in and rakes across the side of the plane with machine gun and cannon and swoops up and away as the crippled plane begins smokeing and loosing altitude.

We should turn this into the "Ability to bounce appreciation thread". I'm stoked about the news. If any noobs come along complaining, just direct them to Derek Robinson's "A Piece of Cake" for an education on what a bounce is.

I dunno why I`m pleased. I only ever fly as Allied.

I guess it`s cos it`ll stop the whining (but probably won`t).

Larry the LA5 soon realised the sound improvement in 1.22 was not so great....

This will exponentially increase the importance of having a wingman, and to a lesser degree, having a rear-view mirror.
