have been reworking my IJN pilot skin.I added a compass(tied arownd the neck with a white cord),fur collar and fur padding to the flight helmet.
I made a variation of the flight helmet worn with the earflaps turned upside according to WWII futage.I wanted to add rank insignia to the pilots
to be used in campaigns.I know they were worn as a patch on the left arm
and they seem to be identical to Royal Navy's,for officers.I don't know anything about petty officers. In a WWII era documentary I remember seeing an NCO radio operator and his patch looked like a chevron and a flower above it but Ican't be sure.I have only fownd the formal dress insignia but they are different. If you have any suggestions on the skins or any information about the rank insignia you are welcome.Friends from Japan or not please help! Thanks!

This is all I can find so far:

http://www.actionheroes.homestead.com/reviewsfifteen.html

Kinda odd, but some nice close ups of apparently well researched uniform details.

I've been looking for a grand total of 10 minutes, I'll give it another shot http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

edit~
note that this action figure is wearing a Leiutenant's uniform http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This is simply listed as "japanese pilot's badge, 1913-1945", so it may be of little value

holy CRAP does Ubi's website STINK. This reply window took over 5 minutes to load! I know private non-profit groups and clubs that have more complex websites with less troubles http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Here is a Japanese Aviation and Military Webring. I didn't explore it too much, but I'd recommend trying the Japanese Military Reference link first

Unfortunately, the link to the book won't work, but here's the webpage I found it on.

http://www.chrisevansbooks.com/uniforms.html#JAP

There are a pair of books with many illustrations on IJN and IJA uniforms and rank insignia

ps
thanks for the great pilot skins http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry I couldn't really find anything (I put that note about the Lt.'s uniform in my post in case you didn't want to bother to look)
