So the Great Planes include a P-40, F4F and a Hurricane - but no Il-2, La-5, Yak-3 or any Soviet planes at all? Tsk tsk tsk.

This is true Luthier.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif sad but true....that is one reason why I will be forever in 1Cs debt. They opened up a whole new world for me...one that I had no idea of..cold war stuff i guess..but Im glad I bought IL2. It was the best $49 invetment I ever made in my life.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif I even did a search under Yak,Lavochkin,Mig & IL2..... nothing. But you gotta admit the planes that are there are great. Now you get an idea of how I feel when I go to bookstores and look at stuff on the airwar in Europe and find no mention at all of the Tuskegee Airmen in 85% of the books. Not even a mention.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Well - this mag is distributed in the west primarily..but they have done stories on Yak - Mikoyan Guryvich and Ilyushin..

They also recently talked about the WWII Yaks that are being built new from the original plans and tooling in Russia..

I have given away most of my older issues so I cant point to specifics.. It is rare that any mention is made of those planes but its there...

Fb has undoubtedly caused me to look for material on Russian planes and pilots - its more difficult to find anywhere but online.

Now that is an example of the search engines failure .. it has been mentioned with great praise in the last 3 issues in a row ! -under their "Virtual Pilots" section.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Lomac has also been saluted there.

maybe pick up a copy of Feb. issue w/ Glacier girl on the cover.

I assure you it is there..

Further - I would like to suggest to Il2 team that they have an excellent opportunity to bring the "Forgotten Battles" story to the forefront of all interested flight enthusiasts by virtue of a byproduct of all their extensive research. You guys can probably submit great awesome first-person pilot accounts of the Great Patriotic war (or any arial conflict)from that perspective - as well as provide photographic material from all the information and contacts, (actual survivng pilots and their kin) that you have obviously collected in the past several years.
If FJ failed to recocnize the value of it - I would cancel my subscription on the spot.

Please - take a moment to consider this and see if any of the people you have established reletionships with would be willing to provide accounts of their experience and with supported documents - it would make great reading!..

A book or collection of short stories would be good too - You must be sitting on a gold mine !

Take advantage of it please.
