View Full Version : FB aircraft in PF

Here's another silly question, would I be able to export the aircraft from FB Aces to PF?

Would be Kinda cool to have german fighters bouncing off a carrier deck

well, PF can be installed INTO FB http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

so, actually i think you will be able to fly ALL planes (FB & PF ) on ALL maps.
if you will be able to set carriers on the "old" FB maps , well, we have to wait.

also some old FB planes (like P40s, P-38s .....) will be included in PF standalone installation

08-12-2004, 06:57 AM
So in other words PF will be an addon to FB just like AEP?

Hmmm, landing an He 111 on an aircraft carrier now thats a challenge http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

PF can be installed as a stand alone game , than you have "only" the features from PF.

AND it can be installed as an AdOn . so you have all maps and planes in one game.

both possibilities are NOT compatible online !

so, if you want fly a A20 over the eastern front , you have to buy PF http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

also, i can be in the future that adons/patches/upgrades will only work with the FB+PF version http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif thats not exactly clear so far.

nevertheless , PF will be a full PRICE game http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif , if you use it as AdOn ore Standalone http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

NO! Not "just like AEP". Pacific Fighters IS a standalone product, but Oleg recently announced that he will also include a 2nd install option into PF, that will allow to "merge" PF with FB/AEP.

This will effectively change your FB/AEP menu screens and layout into PF, and you will have full access to ALL planes and ALL scenarios and ALL objects of BOTH games.

But if you for some reason like, you can also just install PF as a standalone, to play with other people who just use PF solo.

And if you think a He-111 will be interesting to land on a carrier, imagine a B-17 or even B-29! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Edit: Frankyboy was faster, however there's one thing he left out: Oleg also announced that they will provide patches for both versions in the future... for PF standalone AND for FB/AEP/PF combined.

Hopefully this will only be possible on the arcade servers http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif

F4Fs flew off the Ranger in operation Torch in the Med, and the Fleet Air Arm operated them as well. It isn't insane to see a 109 vs a F4F in some limited circumstances. The F4F's first kill was a FW 200, actually, downed by a FAA Martlet.

Amen Yell. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif
With a full install, you'll have the option to fly on either server. i.e. IL-2/FB/AEP/PF servers, or Pure PF servers.
I knew it, I just knew it... The baffoonery begins! People wantin' to land hookless bombers on carriers. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I'm so glad Oleg and team came up with this solution. The kiddies can play their little raindeer games and we re-enactors can fly a little history. But I'll be in there sometime with my trusty Corsair RUNNING DOWN 190's just for laughs.

Arrogance in the making in here. Why the heck is every server that pits planes against eachother that only rarely or never met in real life, even if the settings are "full real", always called "arcade"? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

Besides, though it will be fun to try, I doubt I'll limit my PF experiences to just bashing against the Lexingtons' deck with the B-29.

And @ Vidar: Reality Check - you need to have two installs of PF on your PC to have both cakes (FB/AEP/PF servers and pure PF server). If you only do the "full" install (the FB/AEP/PF one) you will only be able to join such servers, but you can't join pure PF servers.

Gentlemen, while I like the old saying "to each his own", looking down on others as you do here is just unneccessarily arrogant. Besides, it sure will be interesting to see some encounters that never really took place.

Unless of course you guys are so narrow-minded that you're not the least bit curious as to how a Corsair would do against a La.

Will there be confusion as far as fan-made missions and campaigns go ? Post-PF, will we see missions "AEP only", "PF only" or in "AEP/PF combined" versions ?

If that's the case, plus the different server situation, folks might have to install 3 different versions of the game : FB/AEP only, PF only, & FB/AEP/PF combined.

I think this ability to merge PF into the current AEP to be a thing of awesome power. Most of the guys currently on HL will probably go that route and we gain access to alot of aircraft overall.

For instance, the Beaufighter on the Western Front would be perfectly historical...

But it sounds great. I imagine PF will ship with allied AAA guns (so far we've been using Russian ones at USAAF bases for instance) so mission builders will have more flexibility too!

Actually no one has clarified the "not compatible" thing.

We really don´t know if FB/AEP/PF will not be compatible with pure PF.

We do know that PF alone will certenlly not be compatible with FB/AEP/PF.

Witch makes a lot of sense. If you are running a server with FB/AEP/PF, you have every plane, map and object. SOw if you tray to join that game with a pure PF, you might not have a specific object, or plane or even the map tah server is running....

Now if a Guy is running a pure PF server, and a guy with FB/AEP/PF install should be able to get in that game since he wouldn´t be lacking any element.

If this logic is not correct, then that means that you get diferent performances or FM or DM or terrain, or something between pure PF and FB/AEP/PF isntall....

Witch would make no sense at all, since I don´t belive they had created different FM, DM, etc, for boths installs...

And it would be a bad comercial mouve:
If a new guy buys PF, he sees he is enjoing onlly part of what the community offeers, so logically he will get the Gold pack FB + AEP http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

If FB/AEP/PF is not compatible with pure pacific, then there is no need to go backwards.

I am starting to wonder how is ot exactlly that this will work, becouse if FB/AEP/PF is not compatible with pure PF, then there is something that we are not getting with this install that pure PF IS getting. Unless it is an artificcial non compatibility issue that makes no sense to me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I know the rule of thum is that new stuff is compatible with old and not the other way arround, but I think that in this case is teh other way arround just becouse PF alone does not have all the objects needed to be compatible..

But hey we are finding out in about two months http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

@ BacoECV56: Your logic is faulty.
According to what you say, then FB with AEP should also be compatible with pure FB.

But it isn't. And for the same technical reason will a FB/AEP/PF install not be compatible with pure PF.

Besides, read this part of Oleg's posting again:

"Others, who haven't not FB/AEP will be able to install PF as completely separate stand alone product which will feature only Pacific theater with the only content for this purpose(not small need to say!). Probably these that still haven't FB/AEP will look for activity and speeches on forums about "full" version and especially gameplay online and then will try to buy FB/AEP gold pack that to be able to play as others.... Also good plus for all."

So if I got the main man right, my conclusions are correct. Pure PF will not be compatible in any way with FB/AEP/PF.

And why the heck do you think standalone PF users will get something extra FB/AEP/PF users won't get?
There is no indication that this might be. It's just a technical issue, nothing more.

When I said "Full" install, I meant both options as far as the add-on and the stand alone.

As for the compatibility issue, Oleg has made that plain and clear. Pure PF missions and maps can go into FB/AEP/PF, but FB/AEP/PF WILL NOT be compadiable with a Pure PF server. So, in otherwords, for example:
Plane sets from FB/AEP/PF can not go into a pure PF server. You will have the option to join either/or from the same hard drive if you have FB/AEP installed. If you only have PF installed, you will only be able to join pure PF servers. However, with FB/AEP installed, you'll have the best of both worlds by being able to choose a pure PTO sim, or mix it up for kicks in what will become one big melting pot of fun.

08-12-2004, 05:15 PM
Future, It might be, yes but....

AEP was not compatible with Pure FB becouse AEP did change FM, DM. SO those would conflict in pure FBs servers.

If we assume thta FM and DM of pure PF and of the all in wonder install are the same, there should be no technical dificultie for the install with all the elemnets to work with the install with less elements. Not unless the basic engine works diferentlly as pure FB´s engine and FB/AEP does.
(By engine I mean Flight Model and Damaga Model)
Besides I think the altitude limitation was improuved in AEP, so it would mean further modification of the engine.

Now If they cant change FM´s and DM´s engine becouse it would not be compatible with FB/AEP, then if you choose this instal you get one set of FM´s and DM´s and if you choose pure PF, the n you get other sets. Witch makes no sense to me at all. If installing PF brings FB/EAP to PF standards, tehre shuold be no technical problems for FB/AEP/PF to be compatible with pure PF.

In other words: Vidar´s point.
And FB and FB/EAP were not compatibe becouse FB/AEP had different coded stuf in it that FB alone did not. Witch should not be the case of diferent instalations of the same Flight Sim...right?

08-12-2004, 07:15 PM
surely the "pure" could be used from just 1 install of the mixed.

because u join map and it has X objects, planes etc. the mixed person has all these objects etc but they dont haveto be used http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif.

and im gonna land a tb3 on a carrier http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
b29 probably hardest, damn high wing loading, and wide wing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

fun challenge, and in the end we play for fun dont we?http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

FB/AEP was made to replace FB.

FBP may be made replace FB. -- FBP being the complete total Mass Install...or rather the install of FP over FB. I am thinking FBP would be like a UberPatch for FB. mmm

You guys/guyettes seem to have it all wrapped up here. The change in tone of ubi Debate over FBP is a thing to BeHold.

I would like to see what it would be like trying to take off from a carrier with a loaded B~25.

08-12-2004, 10:00 PM
Or if we can customise the loadout further to empty the guns but not the bombload. Or if there will be a special "Doolittle stripped-down" version of the Mitchell flyable.

Yeah I was wondering about that, so I didn't slip in fully loaded. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry, I'm confused, if I buy fb/aep on my pc will the pf install to the fb or the abc support fpb? What if hl/ aep's pc doesn't work on the ubi/ pf/ aep and then we get aepf on abc with a fp patch?

Consult the readme pbf. The FBP readme file will be a pbf file this time.
