Or has anyone else noticed that the "last posted" order has gotten shuffled in this forum. I was looking for a thread that I think was just started today by Heywooood and I can't find it anywhere. In looking for it I noticed that there were posted from this month at the top of each page I looked at.

BTW, the thread I ws looking for pretained to a very educational link Heywooood posted for the diplomatic documents from Japan to the US on 7 Dec 1941.

There's been quite a lot of discussion on that very topic, but I'm don't believe a definitive answer has been given. (IIRC, could be wrong)

Later,

Well, I hope that someone didn't delete the thread for some reason. The links posted in the initial post connected to an even larger list of links for a huge number of official documents pretaining to the war and events leading up to it.

No, Weather_man, that wasn't the one. but the second link in that post does take you to the same resource page.

The thread I was looking for was on THIS forum and it seems to have dissapeared.

I am glad you found some things of interest there, Latico. I am still reading some of those transcriptions. Should keep me busy till mid October http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif... And yeah - the other thread was moved - also I see some much older ones on this page that still have an old last-post on them..so they weren't bumped..they are just..shuffled?..

Man, I'm just glad I saved the link to my favorites.

Yeah, Heywooood, I do find such info interesting. I started out researching WWII just to find out about Aircraft and ships involved in the PTO, but the more I found the more I searched for, until I got to the point of wanting to know exactly what brought the world to war in the first place.

I have managed to find allot of info from the Ineternet from sites similar to the one you posted. I have particularly found it interesting as to how the Nazis and Hitler rose to power in Germany.

Did you happen to see what I posted on the other thread in question concerning who was really running the show in Japan?

I didn't see it ... but their army was running everything - the Emperor was basically a hostage of sorts, no?... I remember this was briefly touched on in the film classic 'Tora Tora Tora'... when Admiral Nagumo and Yamamoto discuss being out to sea and away from the Armys' direct influence. Is that right - its been awhile since I last sa the movie.

And I agree with you on the importance of knowing world history, especially at this pivotal period in time. The modern era as we know it was shaped in those years even as it is shifting again right now.

Yes, that's the impression that I got. The IJ governmet was a puppet of the Military and the Emporer merely a figure head with no real power. But the citizens of Japan didn't know this. I bleieve that when ever the Military wanted the people to do something they would say it was by decree or in the name of the Emporer. The Japanese people loved their Emporer much like the British loved their Royal Family.

Basicly, the People of Japan were lied to by the Military, just as the People of Germany were lied to by Htiler.
