Map Name - Eye for an eye 3
Author - Jaavaa
Platform - PS4

Ok so what is this all about, well I had some problems playing the map and thought after getting through everything this map is just so out of the box that I hope others get the full experience and also I wanted to push the map because as with so many other quality maps out there they just don't have the figures they deserve when it comes to how many times they have been played.

So is this a one off - Not sure right now, I like doing map reviews but it is down to having time, been in the right mood and having a cool map so I guess I will do some more possibly soon.

Well here goes then.

As the title says this is the third & final map of the series.

So this time around you start off on a hovercraft and take a visually gorgeous drive to where you have your first enemy encounter, I chose to take the double takedown on offer then hide for a few seconds in the water while the heavy gunner went looking for me – the boat gun makes short work of him.
http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac6/MrTibarata/startofmap_zps9bd27d1f.jpg (http://s880.photobucket.com/user/MrTibarata/media/startofmap_zps9bd27d1f.jpg.html)

You then use the grappling hook to climb up through the roof / cave onto the snowy - rocky landscape above (this part is my favourite area of the map) At the top of the grapple point fire the grapple to the next point and climb upwards some more – here you let go of the rope and take down an enemy guard (notice the ammo pile near the end of the cliff)
http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac6/MrTibarata/rocketsfromabove_zps183f6c85.jpg (http://s880.photobucket.com/user/MrTibarata/media/rocketsfromabove_zps183f6c85.jpg.html)
I think this is the area where I took a rest to find some lunatic above with a rocket launcher trying to take me apart - That caught me with my guard down.

As you progress you will see an enemy soldier looking out to sea with his binoculars – this is the same guy in the image above looking over the cliff top as you drive past in the hovercraft, take him out and pick up the ammo stash then to the upper right you will find another grapple point.

You will jump over some rocks and from this point now the game play can be affected in a big way by what you do here.

I think that as this map is made with COOP in mind it would not matter if one player takes the left hand fork and either drops into the water or wing suits down into the water (where you eventually find a demon fish and sloped terrain taking you to the next stage) But I would insist that in SOLO play you MUST take the upper right option of the grappling hook and climb to the wooden balcony – If playing COOP I would recommend one player definitely takes this route – The reason is down to the enemy A.I. Spawn Points, if you take the left hand fork without killing those enemy soldiers which you would meet going the other way then from this point on you will get very little resistance because lots of the enemy A.I. at the next stage are Wave 3 /4/5 which will not get triggered correctly.

The under-water cave entrance looks superb.

So taking the right hand route you will kill the lone guard who has a powerful sniper rifle where you can stand back and trade shots – or you can do like me and grapple over and take the fight to them & wipe the lot of them out – You will still end up in the same location because you leave the platform and follow what was earlier that left hand fork where you exit the water at the sloped terrain. (Looking at the second video at 1min 12 there is a grapple point on the wooden platform, I have not tried this but maybe from down below you get to climb up and assault from that direction – or can we grapple down to the water instead of using the wing suit?)
http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac6/MrTibarata/anothergrappelpoint_zpsba088670.jpg (http://s880.photobucket.com/user/MrTibarata/media/anothergrappelpoint_zpsba088670.jpg.html)
Sniping is not my strongest point but if the need comes I will throw a few shots from range.

From here you can take a left or right, take out the enemy A.I. who are determined to have your head on a plate – This is a difficult area and you might need to take cover and heal often around the rocks – Beside the big tent is an ammo crate and once you clear out this area you will see another ammo crate with the temple entrance in front of you.

At 4min 17 of the video you go through the portal which is a neat one way trick – No going back from this point so replenish ammo before you go through.
Take out the demon in front and the one up on the hands – Now this is another area that in my opinion can further affect the spawns like before.

Previously on my other attempts I would grapple up towards the rocks and swing over onto the left hand and drop onto that where you can walk to the top of one of the fingers, then I would wing suit through the blood running water fall and would find a white tiger on the other side – After that I saw very little resistance and no Pagan Min at the end.
http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac6/MrTibarata/viewfrombuddhasfinger_zps5b53b20e.jpg (http://s880.photobucket.com/user/MrTibarata/media/viewfrombuddhasfinger_zps5b53b20e.jpg.html)
View from the Buddha's finger.

I found out that taking that route which I mention above misses out some of the A.I. who need to be killed to spawn others – So at the end of video 2 I drop down where I find more demons to kill.

So the start of video 3 shows the fire breathing (Hard Bastard) Demon that pushes me to the limit, A friend called around while playing this part so I was under pressure as I didn’t want to die and have to redo the level again and at the same time have my buddy wind me up for losing.

So after killing the main Big Daddy type Demon I was a little confused as to where I should go, Hopefully Jaavaa will explain the route he intended for the player to take.

I now burn the white tiger and jump over the red gate (If I had wing suited from the Buddha’s Hand / Finger then I would have skipped some enemy A.I. so the way it happened to me numerous times these demons beyond the gate would not be there – making the map so much easier but at the same time spoiling things by us not getting the experience we are supposed to get on this map.

There is another Fire Breathing Demon who causes chaos as the grass burns everywhere, this was a nightmare for me to get past.

Now at 3min 03seconds on this third part of the video I drop down into the water below, I wanted to try and do the map correctly but in the past and on several occasions I have taken a left onto a slightly higher up rock overlooking the Pagan Min Statue – from there I have used the wing suit to fly over and land at the base of the statue (taking a little damage in doing so)
I am hopeful that this time I took the right path :)
http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac6/MrTibarata/PaganMinStatue_zpsabb145ab.jpg (http://s880.photobucket.com/user/MrTibarata/media/PaganMinStatue_zpsabb145ab.jpg.html)
From this point you can fly over and parachute onto the Pagan Min Statue

So now it is a matter of using the grapple points available, and keep working your way upwards – at 4mins 50 on this third part of the video from the grapple point above the buddha’s bosom it does not matter which rock you choose to grapple onto next because whichever one you take you have to swing over to the opposite side to get the point to show for the next grapple point.

The view from here is staggering and seeing how some of these areas you pass through can at other intervals be seen around the map – it all fits together very well and is a credit to it’s creator.

So after taking down those last few demons it is time to wing suit through the geyser (floating red leaves) and then meet your maker.
Pagan Min is a wave 5 enemy so if you took the easy option or by mistake you missed killing some of the other enemy A.I. from previous waves you might miss out on seeing the Pink Lad which would be a shame – Now go inside the hut and your all done – Well done.

View towards the Geyser and your maker - Pagan Min awaits.

So now what are my thoughts on the map, well it is an amazing piece of work – staggeringly beautiful in some places and insane in others, what I like about Jaavaa is he does not appear to do Point A to B straight forward maps and instead has this knack of making you choose from options out there – is there at times a little confusion as to where do I go (Yes) I was puzzled quite a few times but if this map were stupidly linear then I would not have enjoyed it as much.

I have also made some mistakes by exploring areas I should not really have gone to and I found a few bits where you can see through the side of a rock, one area I got stuck in but this was just me been foolish – You can actually go down the rocks near the first waterfall you see which you pass at the start in the hovercraft.

Eye for an eye 2 was and possibly still is one of my favourite Far Cry 4 maps but that was very difficult to get through and there were a couple of places that if you dropped into the water you could not get back out so don’t expect everything to be on a plate – You have to play these maps over and over and learn from your mistakes – that is what I like about them so much.

This is very creative and neatly built, but also a little insanity which makes the map a joy to play – very clever and among the best maps on FC4 if you play it enough to understand it.

Jaavaa – keep making maps because the community needs people like you that always think outside the box.

Excellent review of an excellent looking map! Your play by play review of the map, along side the pictures and videos is fantastic and shows the great amount of work that both Jaavaa put into the map and you put into the review.

I'd like to thank you for the time you've dedicated, not only regarding this endeavour, but across the community as a whole. You really help out with finding new maps for others to try, alongside your map posts (both from yourself and the others you find).

Keep up the fantastic support you've been showing and once again, thanks for a brilliant review.

Thanks for the kind words Ubi Jax, I would also like to add that I was in a text conversation with Sabotur and we were discussing the issue with Extraction Mode where the player can cheat or can by mistake pass the enemy without killing them with the result being that other Enemy A.I. might not spawn, there is the option to set the map so that with one enemy killed the next wave spawns but this is not what everyone wants - Sab had the idea that you could create a pit with a tiger and an enemy A.I. then when the game starts the tiger will kill the enemy (you would use a weak one) then the next wave would immediately spawn - The pit could be away from the actual intended area - You could repeat but this also uses up some of your allowance, still it's an option for some.

Something that would have helped with Jaavaa's map is if Pagan Min was a Wave 1 A.I. then he would be there at the end every time.

I should really add the back story to this - Taken from Jaavaa's YouTube Channel - Eye for an eye

Game mode: Extraction

Being in the wrong place at the wrong time, you placed on the edge of death. Unfortunately, your friends have not met the same fate.

Our path was crossed with Min. And he just stepped on us as if we were ants. It's time to tell him, that he has committed his last mistake.

It will not be easy. But you have not already, nothing better to do.

All Player's Skills. Damage Activated. Hide Minimap. Disable Health Regeneration. Disable Manual Health. 2 Health Bars. 2 Empty Slots. Hide Health Indicators. Hide Ammo and Grenade Indicator. Hide Reticle. Cautious Enemies. Disable Wingsuit.

Hey Steve, thank you very much for your review. I hope to see more reviews of some community maps. Great work.

With regard to the Enemy A.I. I have clearly seen after seeing your gameplay my map, which strongly influences the level of difficulty in which the map is played. I always play on hard mode and map works differently. In hard mode you are forced to eliminate more enemies and waves work best.

It really is difficult to handle the appearance of AI on maps of escape through parameters: one dead, 25%, 50% and 75%. It would have been nice to have tigers in the editor (defined areas that go through them launch an associated event), to initiate spawning of enemies. It could also be an alternative, the existence of an extraction mode, which compelled to kill all the enemies, or an assault mode, with a final destination. It's the same.

... And you're right, I think it was wrong to put Min, on the 5th wave. I did it to try to remain within the small temple crouched behind the chair, like a coward. And I thought that with time climbing the giant buddha, would be enough for the animation was activated again. From now on I will have to test the maps in another minor difficulty, trying to avoid the AI.

Oops sorry I did not understand how things worked reference the difficulty, I thought that the map would simply play with it's difficulty already set when published.
I knew we could alter the difficulty but assumed that as default the map would play as intended - I was not aware that I would have to manually set the difficulty for how I want the maps to play:o

Maybe that is something they can look into on the next editor.
