the weak spot of the C model is the pilot...very weak indeed

The C in ki84C is for Crutch

Anywhere two parts are joined, there's a weakspot. That's why the Ki-84 wasn't really much of a factor. By the time they were in action, Japanese industry was in shambles, and the examples they turned out were of very slipshot quality (especially by normal Japanese standards).

I ignore these planes in flight sims, because they are always pristine condition examples, and have nothing to do with anything realistic.

If you're gonna do Pacific, use a Zero, a Ki43 or perhaps a George or Jack. Otherwise you're just ueberplaning; might as well fly a P-63, P-80 or other plane people imagine actually had some kind of impact on WWII.

I shoot away at them an the best I hope for is a PK or a fuel tank leak or removing control surfaces. I can't remember the last time when flying a US aircraft that I took a wing off.

The one co-op that I was in you must have sprayed a few 50 cals at me and my engine seized and my left wing was damaged. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif No visible bullet holes though. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But I was screwed anyway lol.

If you shoot their tyres they cannot take off after you and shoot you down.

There's no mistery in shooting down the Ki-84C. Just avoid turning with it. If a Ki84 enter your six, just dive to gain speed, then, when you have a good amount of energy, pull your stick at max to agin some altitude, the Ki84 pilot will EVER have a blackout... And other: the Ki84 have a fragile structure, he can't suffer much punichment, cos their controls and/or cannons will be disabled every burst you hit.

Best spot I've found to hit them is in the wing near the root. Not because the wing will break but because the fuel tank may lite on fire. Use at your own risk...only happens about 25% of the time I shoot at one. I get shot down by Ki-84's more often then I shoot them down.

maybe.. but so why people complain of uberplaing when you fly the Me262 that did made a lot of combat in war ? People not complain on Ki cause it was not masively used.. but beceuse people just whinne eveytime they are not at advantage.

Do you think you will have mey people lfying PF with you.. using zeros against your corsair? Don't think so, people will wanna fly the best plane available, otherwise they will not play a game that they cannot win out of a miracle.

If brute force does not solve your problem... you are not using enough!

Man the Ki-84 is awesome... I flew the stock mission that came with AEP a little while ago. It is the 84b, but I still really liked the cannons it had, not to mention the cockpit.

PF is going to rock. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Yeah, it's especially funny to see a KI84 lose a Aileron or elevator and still juke and jive as if nothing ever happened.LOL
I dont doubt the KI was a really good plane and you can outfly them if done properly, but the damage Model on that thing is horrible. It's easier to knock down a P47 than it is one of those KIs

he flew for another 10secs then spiraled into thee ground.
tbh its a tough plane to go against, in 1 pass he hits ya, u should be dead

Its weird, I thought i'd do a quick mission with a load of Ki84's vs some P47's. I had one Ki84 which with a 2 second burst that sort of walked up from the tail to nose of it and blew it apart completely but the rest of them I could get a fuel tank leak easy but couldn't get any form of structural failure apart from shooting off control surfaces. The DM is nuts on that plane. Like the old FW190 DM, its either blow apart or absolutly fine.

A 3rd party dynamic campaign could see a variation in Pacific war development, with Japanese industry surviving intact for high Quality Ki~84 production and P~51 made from a wood. Something simple like Japanese changing radio code in 1942 could change the WAR (Japanese capture Midway for example).

TagertWare's "MiG~3U Over Rabaul" onwhine flight sim has a fascinating Fantasy scenario where the Japanese change radio codes in 1942 and the implications of this for long range high speed [delta wood] P~51 Kamikaze tactics is worth a look.

Simple, really. Just put a few rounds into a wing - it will either catch fire, or be so banged up it can't fight anymore. At which point you're free to take your time and pound him hard - barring any wingmen he might have.
