There was a thread a while back that had a bunch of TrackIR hints in it. I think it was ironically titled "Track IR sucks" or something like that. Does anyone have a link to that thread? I looked for it and tried the handy search funstion on this board with no luck.

I just installed TrackIR last night. It works, but is leaving me disoriented with a major headache.

Thanks,

faust

And it's supposed to be the supermagical skill enhancer to create major advantages in no padlock games.... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
Nothing left but to suck it up, just like the rest of us.

OTOH, for some good starting advice i'd suggest to take a look at this thread here:

edit:

Personally i'd maximize the size of the filters and use zero deadzone. But the latter may not be suitable for trackIR beginners.

Thanks Ivan.

Maybe that thread wasn't that useful.

My issue is a slight shuddering or jerkyness when panning. Also, I don't understand how anyone lines up a shot with the sight moving all over?

try here :- http://forums.naturalpoint.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=000073. sounds like you are running in mouse mode not enhanced mode-this is fb only! and maybe you need to look at the tracking window to check for other light sources interferring.you are using the latest drivers (2.11)?- http://www.trackir.com/support/downloads.html hope this helps

Faustnik,
Trust me, once you have everything setup and working correctly - you are going to love it. Just remember to switch to "enhanced mode" every time you boot you PC (one of my teammates forgot and was running in "mouse view mode", being really upset). You will get all the help you need on this and Natural point forums.
Good luck!

Hey Faustnik,

If you need any assistance I'll be happy to help out. Just PM me.

Here is some advice I set to Maico:

------------------------------

make sure you get v2.11 (www.naturalpoints.com (http://www.naturalpoints.com))
Notice when you start the software - bottom right will say something like: "Motion Mode: F8 Mouse Emulation"

F8 will toggle from mouse to enhanced - use enhanced for FB.

(Create a new profile before starting by clicking Profile)

Tips:
Main
* set mouse override delay to 0 - check all the boxes

Hotkeys Motion
* click the 'trackIR Enhanced'
* click the 'Remember Mode on StartUp
* Use a preset - try deadzone to start
* Max out your smoothing Tracking
* Use the Height and Width to help filter out unwanted light sources.

Makes sure when testing that it's always green. If not, experiment with dots, make sure there is no light reflections hitting the unit, etc... Experiment with leaning head slightly vs. just turning your head too far in one direction.

Profile:
* Now that you have setup your profile, select the game it will be used for. Click the 'Auto Unload this profile'.

Hope that helps - most everyone I know - took about a week of fiddling with it to get it 100%, after that your set.

You need to put the two keys:
"Centre View" and "Engage/disengage TrackIR" on your joystick.

In the final stage of lining up keep the Centre View button on your joystick pressed. You only look straight ahead.

The "Engage/disengage TrackIR" you use when you want to fly relaxed.
