Just out of interest how does a La5 just keep looping without losing any E?

I have seen this soooo many times with the russian planes online, so I gave it a go offline, and guess what, it does'nt lose any E, you can start a loop from flat at 1000 and end up with the same E at the end of the loop at 1000. How can this be, it would have to have an engine with a minimum of a 1:1 ratio to do this.

Can some wizard out there please explain this phenomenon?

PS, the Yak can do it as well.

There are only three explanations I can think of.

1) The La5 had a system of temporarily negating the law of physics installed. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

2) You're making the whole thing up (I haven't seen or tested this out yet so in my mind at least it's a pssibility) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

3) It's a bug which will be ironed-out in the upcoming patch. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

And now for my guess.... It's number three.

No, this is not neccessary. Btw, it totally depends on the speed and the radius of the loop.

You only need an engine to overcome the aerodynamic E-loss. First you gain altitude, you lose speed, then you lose altitude and gain speed.

109's will do the same thing.

You were probably witnessing the AI's exaggerated flight models, don't worry about it. All AI planes have exaggerated/enhanced flight models, not just the VVS planes as some would have you believe. Expect everything to change with the patch. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

kyrule, are you saying the AI FM cheat is Patched?

Don't answer that! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If I were to guess /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I would say that 1C/Maddox has probably devised a way to make the AI aircraft seem less resistant to the laws of physics/more human. I can't say how specifically, it's just a guess /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif .

True, alot of planes can do this. It ain't that hard.

My point is that you should not be able to do it, not that its easy to do. To accomplish a loop and end up in exactly the same position where u started from is near on impossible once, but 10 times is magical powers time, unless you happen to be flying a F18 Hornet or a Lynx Helicopter.

The power to weight ratio of a piston Fighter is a big clue here. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

- Vox.

Then you should not have targetted a single plane to point this out when it's obvious you fly on the "Other side".

Then it is seen as a whine post very quickly.
